Idli Manchurian (with fried egg)
Try these chinese inspired idli dish with some leftover idlis for a quick snack or even dinner. Its yum. This is a perfect dish for someone who doesn't like idli. Also this is an easy dish for beginners to try.
Ingredients:- ( serves 1 individual)
- Idli diced - 2 no:
- Onion/Shallots- 1 small (if shallots use 4/5 large ones)
- Ginger- 1 tsp
- Garlic- 2 tsps
- Chilly powder/pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
- Soya sauce- 1 tbsp
- Tomato Sauce- 2 tbsp
- Fresh Coriander leaves- a little
- Salt- to taste
- Water- 2/3 tbsp
- Oil- 2 tbsp
Method:-
- In a wok pour oil and saute the ginger, garlic and onions until slightly golden brown.
- Add the soya sauce, tomato ketchup and chilly powder. You may also use chilly sauce if u have or even green chillies and water. Mix well
- Now add the diced idli and combine well. Make sure you have got all the pieces covered in the sauce.
- Add fresh coriander and adjust salt. Serve hot
- I had a fried egg with it as I love the runny yolk with it.
*Please note that soya sauce and ketchup will be salty, so add salt accordingly.
* You may use any oil. Though peanut oil is more chinese, i used coconut oil. Don't worry the coconut flavor does not reflect in the final dish.
* You may add capsicum/corn or even use spring onions instead of regular onions.
